KLA Experts Present Online at Debug 2020 Summit

Dec 1, 2020 2 min read

Recently, Ann Arbor-based KLA employees Susan Wagner and Laurie Saims presented at the online Debug 2020 Summit, presented by Lesbians Who Tech. The event was an opportunity for tech-industry professionals to discuss a broad range of pertinent issues including democracy, systemic racism, police brutality, the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change and much more. Lesbians Who Tech is a community organized to increase representation, visibility and connection of queer, female, trans, gender non-conforming and of-color people in STEM fields. Providing a platform for subject matter experts from a variety of backgrounds, including two of KLA’s own, this community hosted the four-day event with the goal of informing and empowering their attendees.

Susan Wagner

VP of Global Facilities

Susan Wagner, KLA’s VP of Global Facilities and Real Estate and veteran of the tech world for over two decades, presented on the future of work in a post-COVID world. She pointed out that the recent decentralization of the workplace provided an opportunity to break down silos and increase collaboration across teams. She also remarked on how the necessity of adapting to remote work revealed opportunities to leverage its advantages long-term, positing a hybrid approach to the eventual return to work.

Lauire Saims

VP and Chief Information Security Officer

Laurie Saims, VP and Chief Information Security Officer at KLA, discussed the current state of cybersecurity, and presented strategies businesses can explore to address digital vulnerabilities across their networks and employee bases. The recently increased dependence on online business and adoption of new, online tools has seen a commensurate rise in cyberattacks. Modern security solutions are required to meet them.

KLA believes that optimal solutions can only be attained by problem-solving teams diverse in their background and varied in their perspective. We are grateful to have been included in the Debug 2020 Summit, proud of our presenters for representing the best of KLA, and supportive of technology innovators of all identities.
